Year 1 and 2 - Music Hall and the music of the East End

Our brilliant Year 1 and 2 classes have exploring the musical history of our own area of London, singing brilliant Music Hall songs. Here's some words you can use for singing along at home....

Year 1 - Daisy, Daisy

Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do.
I'm half crazy all for the love of you.
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage.
But you'll look sweet,
Upon the seat,
Of a bicycle made for two.

Year 1 and 2 - Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner

Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner
That I love London so.
Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner
That I think of her wherever I go.

I get a funny feeling inside of me,
Just walking up and down.
Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner
That I love London Town
(Sing it again please)...

Year 1 and 2 - Knees Up, Mother Brown

Knees up, Mother Brown!
Knees up, Mother Brown!
Under the table you must go,
E-I-E-I-E-I-O
If I catch you bending
I'll saw your legs right off!
Knees up, knees up, don’t get the breeze up,
Knees up Mother Brown!

OH MY,
WHAT A ROTTEN SONG, WHAT A ROTTEN SONG, WHAT A ROTTEN SONG.
OH MY, WHAT A ROTTEN SONG,

AND WHAT A ROTTEN SINGER TOO-OO-OO.

Year 2  - You Can't Keep A Horse In A Lighthouse

You can't keep a horse in a lighthouse,
It isn't a home for old Ned.
A horse's place in on dry land,
He'll never stay healthy on sea foam and sand...

You can let him graze in the garage
If you give him his meals on a tray,
But you can't keep a horse in a lighthouse,
Neigh, neigh, neigh!

Happy 2014!

Happy new year everyone! Upper Phase and Year 3 have been enjoying singing Happy by Pharrell Williams - here's a video to sing along to with lyrics, and added minions...
